Czech Text Document Corpus v 2.0

This paper introduces "Czech Text Document Corpus v 2.0", a collection of text documents for automatic document classification in Czech language. It is composed of the text documents provided by the Czech News Agency and is freely available for research purposes at http://ctdc.kiv.zcu.cz/. This corpus was created in order to facilitate a straightforward comparison of the document classification approaches on Czech data. It is particularly dedicated to evaluation of multi-label document classification approaches, because one document is usually labelled with more than one label. Besides the information about the document classes, the corpus is also annotated at the morphological layer. This paper further shows the results of selected state-of-the-art methods on this corpus to offer the possibility of an easy comparison with these approaches.Comment: Accepted for LREC 201

Unsupervised Dialogue Act Induction using Gaussian Mixtures

This paper introduces a new unsupervised approach for dialogue act induction. Given the sequence of dialogue utterances, the task is to assign them the labels representing their function in the dialogue. Utterances are represented as real-valued vectors encoding their meaning. We model the dialogue as Hidden Markov model with emission probabilities estimated by Gaussian mixtures. We use Gibbs sampling for posterior inference. We present the results on the standard Switchboard-DAMSL corpus. Our algorithm achieves promising results compared with strong supervised baselines and outperforms other unsupervised algorithms.Comment: Accepted to EACL 201

Assessing the effects of thickness of beech veneers on compressibility of plywoods

    Get PDF
The assessment of the effect of thickness and thickness tolerances of beech veneers on the value of compressibility in relation to production parameters was carried out on a series of plywood whole-beech sheets of the nominal veneer thickness of 1.5 mm. The plywood sheets were manufactured as seven-ply sheets, and urea-formaldehyde resin DUKOL S was used in their manufacture. The following characteristics were assessed: thickness differences, size of shrinkage and compressibility of veneers. The sheets were pressed using a pressure of 1.5 N·mm-2 and 1.7 N·mm-2. Values of changes in the thickness of veneers in pressed veneer sheets were then statistically analysed, as well as coefficients of compressibility of particular properties. The basic economic evaluation was made of the effect of compressibility on the level of production costs

Characterization of innovative rotary swaged Cu-Al clad composite wire conductors

Cu/Al composites are perspective for applications in a wide range of industrial and commercial branches, from transportation to elecatrotechnics. This study focuses on Cu/Al clad composite wires with 5 mm diameter featuring unique sequencing produced via the technology of rotary swaging at the processing temperatures of 20 degrees C and 250 degrees C. During the swaging process, we continuously acquired samples for investigations and used our own KOMAFU S600 system for dynamic detection of swaging forces. The composite wires subjected to electrical resistivity measurement were further analysed via electron microscopy, neutron diffraction, and mechanical testing. The results showed that both the total imposed strain (swaging degree) and swaging temperature influenced the investigated parameters non-negligibly. The samples subjected to high reduction ratios (swaging degree > 3) at the temperature of 250 degrees C exhibited formation of intermetallics at the interfaces, which deteriorated the electric conductivity. However, the conductivity was also affected by structural phenomena, such as work hardening, texture development, dislocations density, and recrystallization. All the final 5 mm samples exhibited sufficient bonding of both the components and recrystallized ultra-fine grained structures providing them with the ultimate tensile strength of >200 MPa.Web of Science16083582

Analiza određenih mehaničkih svojstava konstrukcijskog drva KVH i uslojenog drva PSL

This paper summarizes the results of the analysis of selected physical and mechanical properties of construction wood KVH and composite material Parallam 2.0 E (below Parallam). The following properties were determined: bending strength, local modulus of elasticity in bending, modulus of elasticity in pure bending, modulus of elasticity in shear by the constant span method, compression strength along the grain, compression strength across the grain, tensile strength across the grain, density and moisture content. The determined values were compared to each other and the best material was evaluated. The analyzed materials showed not only different values of monitored properties but also different behavior in particular tests. The presented tables and diagrams show that Parallam demonstrates better strength properties in many cases than construction wood KVH but with respect to the high purchase price of Parallam a manifold higher difference was expected. Comparing both analyzed materials from the aspect of purchase costs, two-fold higher values of the majority of analyzed mechanical properties of Parallam as against the construction wood KVH are irrelevant. The price of construction wood KVH is about EUR 250, and the price of Parallam is about EUR 1540 per m3. Such a high price is the main cause of the minimum use of Parallam as against construction wood KVH.U radu se iznose rezultati istraživanja određenih fizikalnih i mehaničkih svojstava konstrukcijskoga cjelovitog drva KVH (Konstruktionsvollholz) i uslojenog drva PSL (Parallel Strand Lumber).

    Dialogue Act Recognition Approaches

    Get PDF
This paper deals with automatic dialogue act (DA) recognition. Dialogue acts are sentence-level units that represent states of a dialogue, such as questions, statements, hesitations, etc. The knowledge of dialogue act realizations in a discourse or dialogue is part of the speech understanding and dialogue analysis process. It is of great importance for many applications: dialogue systems, speech recognition, automatic machine translation, etc. The main goal of this paper is to study the existing works about DA recognition and to discuss their respective advantages and drawbacks. A major concern in the DA recognition domain is that, although a few DA annotation schemes seem now to emerge as standards, most of the time, these DA tag-sets have to be adapted to the specificities of a given application, which prevents the deployment of standardized DA databases and evaluation procedures. The focus of this review is put on the various kinds of information that can be used to recognize DAs, such as prosody, lexical, etc., and on the types of models proposed so far to capture this information. Combining these information sources tends to appear nowadays as a prerequisite to recognize DAs

Proposal of a method for the evaluation of the employment possibilities for people with special needs on woodworking machines

The employment opportunities for people with special needs in the field of woodworking have not yet been mapped out in the Czech Republic. All the current experience in this area has been directly acquired from individual protected and socio-therapeutic workshops. As such, the research proposes a method for evaluating the employment opportunities for handicapped people when working on woodworking machines and this has become the main contribution of the thesis. The originality of the method consists in creating a questionnaire focused on the activity under examination which has been chronologically broken into individual sub-operations for which we have determined the degree of mastery and load rate for each worker. In case of failing to carry out a sub-operation, we have proposed possible measures to remove the barrier to enable the person to carry out the operation. A model of the method has been tested with one handicapped worker. The basis for the work involved mapping out 4 protected workshops currently involved in woodworking. The research was undertaken by means of a personal visit to each individual organization and via consultation both with the leaders and with handicapped workers. Experience has shown that appropriate work adaptation enables the production of complicated wooden products such as musical instruments. The proposed method specifies the work capacity of a particular person and technology on a particular piece of machinery when machining of a specific workpiece. As such, it ascertains the real causes of the barriers restricting handicapped people from performing the work and it should lead to the consideration and proposal of work conditions which compensate for a handicap so that a person with special needs can perform the work activity in consideration. The nature of the evaluation method means that it is suitable for protected workshops, socio-therapeutic workshops and organizations producing mass-produced products.O
